Let's face it: it stinks being the one with sensitive skin.

While it seems like everybody around you is obsessing over the latest and greatest beauty product, you have to (metaphorically and literally) stand outside the store because the smell alone might make you itch.

Most beauty and skincare companies do develop and carry a selection of products for those with sensitive to extra-sensitive skin, however, it's not always strongly marketed. At Basin we realize that not all of our guests need or want the same types of products. We consider most of our products to be "kid-friendly" anyway. This simply means that, generally, children tend to have more sensitive skin. We use this rule of thumb during product development, because many people, regardless of age, just do not react well to mainstream skincare products. We do our best to eliminate as many unnecessary and potentially aggravating ingredients as possible.

Sensitive skin normally means that facial or body skin tends to have a negative reaction when certain products are introduced to it. Skin can become red or flaky, and itch, sting, or become very dry. All of these symptoms may occur, or maybe only one does. Either way, your skin wants you to know it's not liking what's being put on it.

    There are everyday, simple things you can do to care for your sensitive skin as well. Keep your skin as clean and moisturized as possible, and remember to pat yourself dry after showering. Sometimes rubbing too harshly with a rough towel can cause irritation. Stay moisturized on the inside and outside. Drinks lots of water during the day, and apply fragrance-free, rich lotions when you can. Hydrated skin is healthier, and is less likely to become irritated. Avoid being in the direct sunlight for long periods of time, as harsh UV rays really aren't anyone's friend (sensitive skin or not)! And, most importantly, your skin will thank you for sticking to products that don't contain artificial fragrances and colors.
