Over time, hoards of people have sought out the Dead Sea to float in its dense waters and scrub their bodies with its nutrient-rich mud. The endless rolling lavender fields of Provence are in bloom from late June through August. This southern region of France is almost Mediterranean in landscape and environment, but it’s striking, fragrant purple flowers are quintessentially French.
